Three Rivers Branch AALAS Veterinarian of the Year Award

The Veterinarian of the Year Award is offered annually to a TRBAALAS member in recognition of their outstanding accomplishment(s) and/or significant contribution(s) to laboratory animal medicine by a veterinarian.  This award may be sponsored by industry vendors.  The award consists of a plaque.


Criteria:

  1. Be a laboratory animal veterinarian.
  2. Demonstrates interest in the improvement of care, quality, and environment of animals used in biologic and medical research.
  3. Involvement in education, training, animal care, lab animal science, or improvement of care and environment of laboratory animals.
  4. Demonstrates involvement in TRBAALAS.
  5. Be a member in good standing of Three Rivers Branch of AALAS.
  6. Nominated by any TRBAALAS member in good standing.

 

2016 Three Rivers Branch AALAS Veterinarian of the Year Award Recipient:  Dr. Amy C., University of Pittsburgh

Allentown, Inc. Manager / Supervisor of the Year Award

The Manager/Supervisor of the Year Award is offered annually to a TRBAALAS member in recognition of his/her efforts and achievements in the field of laboratory animal management.  This award is sponsored by Allentown, Inc.  The award consists of a plaque and an honorarium from Allentown, Inc.


Criteria:

  1. Primary responsibilities are as a facility supervisor or manager.
  2. Should actively participate with lab animal technicians and/or branch affairs.
  3. AALAS certification preferred, but not mandatory.
  4. Be a member in good standing of the Three Rivers Branch AALAS.
  5. Nominated by any TRBAALAS member in good standing..

 

2016 Allentown, Inc. Manager of the Year Award Recipient:  Matt M., University of Pittsburgh

The PMI LabDiet Technician of the Year Award

The Technician of the Year Award is offered annually to a TRBAALAS member who is primarily responsible for the day-to-day husbandry or veterinary technician care of laboratory animals.  This award is sponsored by PMI LabDiet®.  This award consists of a plaque and an honorarium from PMI LabDiet®.


Criteria:

  1. Be a laboratory animal husbandry technician or veterinary technician providing daily animal care to one or more species.
  2. Demonstrates positive attitude and commitment towards animal welfare, citing innovative approaches to animal care.
  3. Demonstrated performance in completing animal care related duties, as well as or better than expected level of performance in the facility.
  4. Demonstrates pursuit of knowledge and education concerning laboratory animal welfare and care.
  5. Supervisory responsibilities and formal degrees are not required for nomination to this award.
  6. Be a member in good standing of the Three Rivers Branch AALAS.
  7. Nominated by an TRBAALAS member in good standing.

 

2015  PMI LabDiet® Technician of the Year Award Recipient:  Dana B., University of Pittsburgh

The Donna Paich Award

The Donna Paich Award, named for one of the founders of TRBAALAS, is offered annually to a TRBAALAS member in recognition of going "above and beyond the call of duty" for the branch.


Criteria:

  1. Goes above and beyond the call of duty for the Branch.
  2. Has never received this award.
  3. Be a member in good standing of Three Rivers Branch of AALAS.
  4. Nominated by any TRBAALAS member in good standing..


 

2016 Donna Paich Award Recipient:  Monica M., Healtheon / NIOSH

The TRBAALAS annually recognizes our membership through the nominations and awards to those highly skilled individuals who are dedicated to their profession, committed to their work, committed to providing quality care, and committed to professional development for all they encounter.  Nominations for each award occur in September with the recipient being announced at the January Awards Meeting and Murder Mystery Dinner.
